How DipGo handles your details
DipGo is a free, non-commercial Go server.
• In short
- DipGo keeps your handle, email address and games. The handle and games are public; the email address is never shown to anyone.
- Email is used for login and optional game reminders.
- Four cookies are used: no third-party, no advertising, no analytics and no scripts from other companies.
- Nothing about you is sold or passed on, and your account is removed on request.
• Your account
When you register, DipGo stores your handle, which is public, and your email address, which is never shown to anyone. Changing your password or email address signs you out everywhere else.
• Your games, chat and messages
Every game is kept, with its moves and chat. A game's public chat can be read by any signed-in player who opens the game, a private message only by the teams it was sent to. The main chat, the Quickplay lobby chat and direct messages between players are kept too.
Your handle appears on your games, your profile, the leaderboard and DipGo TV. When a visitor who is not signed in opens a game's page, they see its players as "Player 1", "Player 2" and so on, and no chat. A private game is left out of the listings, but once it has started anyone who knows its address can open it: private means unlisted, not hidden.
• Emails
DipGo emails you only about your own account and games: a welcome when you register, reminders about your games, invitations from other players, a password reset link when you ask for one, news/updates and a warning to your old address if the address on your account is changed. Each kind of reminder has its own tick on the settings page, which every email links to.
• Cookies and tracking
DipGo sets only the cookies it needs to work, and these are all of them:
- SESSION identifies your visit, for logging in as your account.
- remember-me keeps you signed in, if you left "Remember me" ticked.
- dipgo_locale remembers a language you chose.
- SANDBOX_SEEN is set on the sandbox for visitors who are not signed in. It holds nothing about you.
There are no advertising or analytics cookies, and no scripts from other companies run on the site. To slow down a caller that makes far too many requests, DipGo counts requests in memory for a while; nothing about that is stored.
• Seeing or removing what is kept
You can change your email address, password and settings yourself on the settings page. For a copy of what is stored about you, or to have your account removed, email info@dipgo.net from the address on the account.
